After months of healing from a freak accident that forced him to pull out of his main event fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223, Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson is finally back and will face Anthony “Showtime” Pettis at UFC 229. Although, nothing has been announced by the UFC, sources told MMA Junkie about the future booking, and Pettis seems to have confirmed it via tweet.

Ferguson(23-3 MMA) hasn’t fought since winning the UFC interim lightweight title by submitting Kevin Lee at UFC 216 in October 2017. He was originally slated to face Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 for the undisputed lightweight title, but suffered a knee injury that forced him to pull out. Feguson is currently the #2 ranked lightweight and is on a 10-fight win streak, losing only once in his time in the UFC. That loss was against Michael Johnson back in 2012.
