Inducted into HOF(Pioneer Wing): July 5, 2018

Matt Serra is a former UFC welterweight champion and The Ultimate Fighter season 4 winner.  Shortly after winning the tournament, he captured the UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC  69  where he defeated Georges St-Pierre  for the title and also won the Knockout of the Night award.

Serra also served as the head coach for The Ultimate Fighter 6 opposite Matt Hughes.  The two coaches were scheduled to face off for the UFC welterweight title at the conclusion of the series at UFC 79. However, Serra was forced to withdraw from the fight due to a herniated disc in his lower back. He was replaced by Georges St. Pierre,  who won the fight against Hughes , securing the interim welterweight championship.

Serra and St. Pierre  fought in a  welterweight unification bout   in the UFC’s first Canadian fight card at UFC  83. Serra lost his rematch and the title to St. Pierre by TKO late in the second round.

In June 2016, Serra began hosting  the popular podcast UFC Unfiltered, along with Jim Norton.
